Prodbim attended the "Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Consultation Forum" meeting on "Market Surveillance and Compliance" held in Brussels and online on January 24, 2024. The agenda covered the progress of the work plan and introduced the new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). Discussions focused on the effectiveness of market surveillance, featuring insights from EEPLIANT3 and DG ENER's data from ICSMS and EPREL. The meeting also highlighted EU support for market surveillance through CINEA and the Compliance Support Facility. Stakeholder perspectives were shared on identified problems and potential solutions, with representatives from market surveillance authorities, NGOs, industry associations, Google, and member states.
The meeting continued with a discussion on next steps and follow-up actions.
There is consensus about improvement needs, while EU keeps focusing on investing in tools, they recognise that the usage of the databases is not yet democratised (Public nor Market Surveillance Authorities) despite progresses, and relatively strong efforts but undeniably lack of MSA resources and available labs.
Review of Heating and Cooling products is part of the priorities of Commission, in the frame of Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), evolution of ErP and Labelling, including Carbon footprint and circular economy.
